SUTTON - The Tufts golf team played at the Worcester State Invitational on Tuesday and finished 14th out of 15 teams. Four players combined for a total of 373 strokes.
Freshman Alex Zorniger (Dayton, OH) was the top Tufts scorer with an 87 to tie for 43rd overall. He went out in 42 and came back in 45. Freshman John Wawer (Litchfield, CT) had a 91 (44-47) to score second for the Jumbos.
Salem State University won the tournament with a 312 score, a healthy 14 strokes ahead of second-place Western New England (326). Salem's Nick Zolotas was the individual medalist with a 32-34-66, six under par.
Tufts next plays at the Western New England Invitational at Veterans Golf Course in Springfield on Thursday.
