Jumbo Golf Places 12th at 18-team Williams Invitational Over Weekend

Freshman Jay Wong shot 75 for Tufts on Sunday

WILLIAMSTOWN - The Tufts golf team played at its third tournament of the fall over the weekend and finished 12th out of 18 teams at the Williams Invitational. The tournament scoring counted each team's best four of five scores per hole each day.

Playing at par-71 Taconic Golf Club on the Williams campus, the Jumbos totaled 321 on Saturday and 310 on Sunday for a 631 final. They were one in front of 13th place Manhattanville (632) and two behind 11th place Bowdoin (629). The host Ephs won the event at 292-292-584.

Freshman Jay Wong (Darien, CT) led the Jumbos individually, shooting a 75 on Sunday after an 82 on Saturday for a 157 total. That tied for 16th.

Sophomore John Wawer (Litchfield, CT) scored a pair of 83's for a two-day 166, second for the team. An 81 on Sunday by freshman Nick Dorian (Greenwich, CT) was the second-lowest round of the weekend for the Jumbos. He finished at 167 overall.

The Jumbos play at the NESCAC Qualifier hosted by Amherst College at Hickory Ridge Golf Club next weekend (Sept. 29-30).
