Kruyff's Two Goals Lead Tufts Women's Soccer Over Connecticut College

Box Score
Carla Kruyff scored both goals against Connecticut College

SOMERVILLE - Junior Carla Kruyff (Boca Raton, FL) scored both goals as the Tufts women's soccer team took a 2-0 NESCAC win over Connecticut College Saturday afternoon at Kraft Field.

The win brings Tufts to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Camels fall to 3-4-2 and 1-3-1 in NESCAC.

Between the Camels' corner and direct kick opportunities, the Jumbo back line held their ground to make sure nothing got through them for a 0-0 score going into halftime

After the scoreless first half, the Jumbos tallied the first goal early in the second period as they scored in the 47th minute. Kruyff blasted the ball right past the fingertips of the Connecticut College goalkeeper.

Then in the 86th minute, Kruyff added an insurance goal on a corner that was straight to the keeper who fumbled the save. Kruyff was unmarked in the box and was able to head it in for her second goal of the game and the 2-0 final.

Senior Kristin Wright (Austin, TX) made four saves in the shutout for the Jumbos. Bella Hall took the loss for the Camels stopping four shots. Tufts held the advantage in shots 21-7. Both teams had four corners each.

Tufts will take a week off before travelling to Williams next Saturday at 12:00 pm for a NESCAC contest. Connecticut College will have a quick turnaround and play a conference game at Colby tomorrow at 11:00 am.
