WELLESLEY - The Tufts women's squash team suffered a 9-0 loss at Wellesley College on Wednesday night.
The host Blue won seven of the nine matches in three games. The best match was at #1, where Wellesley's Rosemary O'Connor outlasted Jumbo senior Jessica Rubine (Cranston, RI). Rubine had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before O'Connor won 16-14 and 11-7 in the fourth and fifth games.
The fifth match went to four games, as Wellesley's Marguerite Sulmont defeated Tufts senior co-captain Hafsa Chaudhry (Westwood, MA) aftter they were tied at 1-1. Jumbo sophomore Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) scored 21 points in her three-game loss to Gabriella Wynne in the #2 match.
Tufts is 3-11 overall and has lost three straight 9-0 matches. The Jumbos were #25 and Wellesley was #26 in the latest Dunlop Women's College Squash Team Rankings.
The Jumbos play next at Northeastern on Thursday night at 7 pm.
