Tufts Women's Squash Edged by Northeastern University, 5-4, on Thursday

Ann Bellinger won in three games at #2 for Tufts

BOSTON - The Northeastern University women's squash team narrowly defeated Tufts, 5-4, on Thursday.

Northeastern is the #33 team in the February 3 Dunlop Women's College Squash Team Rankings. Tufts is at #24.

Most of the matches were determined in three games, except at #7. First-year Sarah Pratt (Groton, MA) won the first game 11-9 in the seventh match, but Northeastern's Hoai Tran came back with three straight victories.

The #1 match between Jumbo senior co-captain Jessica Rubine (Cranston, RI) and Northeastern's Jennifer Janeck featured three tight games. Janeck won 13-11, 11-9, and 11-9. The sixth match was also tightly contested in three games, with Jumbo Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA) taking three 11-8 wins.

Tufts senior Risa Meyers (New York, NY) was the most decisive winner, losing just 10 points in the fourth match. Jumbo senior co-captain Hafsa Chaudhry (Westwood, MA) was also efficient with 11-5, 11-3, and 11-6 wins at #5.

The Jumbos next play in the Howe Cup hosted by Yale Feb. 15-17.
