Laura Cui timed eighth in the 100 breaststroke Saturday

CAMBRIDGE - Sophomore Amanda Gottschalk has an individual seventh and was party of a relay seventh for the Tufts women's swimming & diving team at the MIT Winter Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The three-day meet concludes on Sunday.
On Friday, Gottschalk swam the second leg of the Jumbo 800 freestyle relay that was seventh at the meet with an 8:05.68 time. She was joined by senior tri-captain Amanda Wachenfeld in the lead, junior Sarah Mahoney third and senior tri-captain Kathryn Coniglio as the anchor.
Then on Saturday, Gottschalk timed 4:47.06 to place seventh in the 400 individual medley.
In the non-scoring meet, Tufts has had four top-eight finishes overall. Junior Laura Cui was the eighth finisher in the 100 breaststroke, reaching the wall in 1:08.50. Tufts also closed Saturday's portion with a 4:08.93 in the 400 medley relay. The foursome was first-years Kelsey Gallagher, Meghan Casey and Anna Kimura with Coniglio.
Mahoney also swam an 18:41.75 in the 1,650 freestyle on Friday for 10th overall. The 200 freestyle relay foursome of first-year Jess Lee, sophomore Sophia Lin, senior tri-captain Scarlett Hao and Coniglio was ninth (1:42.11) on Saturday.
In the team scoring, Tufts is seventh out of eight at the meet. MIT, SUNY New Paltz, Harvard, Wellesley, Wheaton, Keene State and Bowdoin are also competing.
Sunday's third and final day of the meet featuers sessions at 10:30 am and 6 pm.
