Adam Hotaling was one of four Jumbos to finish in the top five at 100 backstroke

MIDDLEBURY, VT - The Tufts University men's swimming team dominated the 100 backstroke event by taking four of the first five spots in the event at the Middlebury College Invitational. The meet was a non-scoring event as a final tune-up for the upcoming New England Small College Athletic Conference championships February 21-23.
Sophomore Michael Winget led the way in the event with a first place finish in 53.52. Classmate Will Parker placed third followed by freshman Adam Hotaling, and senior Craig Olynyk.
Tufts' other first-place finisher in the meet was freshman William Metcalfe who took the 400 individual medley in 4:18.29. Fellow frosh Tim Savidge swam to third place, 2:19 off the pace.
Winget took a runner-up spot in the 200 back in 1:53.68. Also taking second place finishes were Anthony DeBenedetto, a sophomore, in the 200 fly in 1:55.76, and Parker in the 50 Free. Parker covered the sprint course in 21.82, .25 off the pace.
Third-place finishers for the Jumbos were the 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Parker, senior Jack Thomas, frosh David Amirkhanashvili, and sophomore Tanner Wiest who also placed third in the 100 free. Freshman Jon Arbaugh took bronze in the 200 breast, as did both the 400 and 800 free relay "A" teams. Weist, Debenedetto, Thomas, and Drew Berman made up the 400 team and sophomore Cam Simko replaced Berman in the 800.
