Golfers Eighth After One Day at Bowdoin Invitational

Alex Zorniger was Tufts' leader on Saturday with an 80

BRUNSWICK, ME - The Tufts Golf team is in Maine opening its 2014-15 season this weekend at the annual Bowdoin Invitational. The Jumbos stand eighth out of 12 teams following one day of play.

Tufts' four-best scores totaled 331 strokes on Saturday, just two behind the sixth-place host Polar Bears (329). The Jumbos are four up on ninth-place Husson (335). Middlebury leads after the first day with a 301 total score. Endicott and Providence are just one off the lead at 302. Play continues on Sunday at 9:30 am.

Alex Zorniger led the Jumbos with an 80. Newcomers Aaron Corn and Glenn VanWinkle scored second and third for Tufts at 82 and 83, respectively. Owen Elliot was the fourth Tufts fiinisher at 86.

Endicott's Austin Teal and Alex Viola are tied for individual honors, both shooting 71.
