NORTON - First-year Anna Kimura earned three of Tufts' eight victories as the Jumbo women's swimming & diving team edged host Wheaton College, 158-138, Saturday afternoon.

Freestyle sprinter Kathryn Coniglio and distance freestyle specialist Sarah Mahoney won twice to help boost Tufts.
Kimura won her first in the sixth event, taking the 100 butterfly in a 1:00.58 time. She would win three times in the final nine swimming events overall. The second came in the 100 breaststroke when she led a 1-2-3 Jumbo finish with a time of 1:09 flat. She hit the trifecta with a 2:14.66 win in the 200 individual medley, again leading a Tufts top-three effort.
Mahoney continued to flex her muscle in the distance freestyles. She gave Tufts its first win of the day in the 1,650, winning by almost 15 seconds with an 18:30.66 time. Tufts had the top three in that event as well. She later posted a 5:25.84 for first in the 500.
Coniglio continued her strong season as well. She won by more than four seconds in the 200 freestyle with a 1:59.95 touch. She was the 100 free winner in 55.15 seconds.
The other Tufts win came from sophomore Sarah Elghor with a time of 28.08 in the 50 breaststroke. She also had a third in the 100 breaststroke behind Kimura with a 1:11.98 time. Sophomore Amanda Gottschalk was runner-up in the event (1:11.81).
Gottschalk also had a second in the 200 IM (2:16.06). Other Jumbo runner-up individuals were senior tri-captain Amanda Wachenfeld in the 1,650 free (18:45.11), sophomore Sophia Lin in the 100 free (55.96), first-year Kelsey Gallagher in the 100 backstroke (1:02.79) and first-year Jess Lee in the 50 fly (28.16). Gallagher was just 0.10 out of first in the 100 back.
Head coach Nancy Bigelow's Jumbos will compete at the Middlebury Invitational next weekend (Jan. 30-31).
