CAMBRIDGE - Junior diver Kylie Reiman of the Tufts Women's Swimming & Diving team scored 412.40 in the three-meter event to hit the NCAA Division III provisional mark leading the Jumbos on the first day of the MIT Invitational Friday night.
Reiman placed fifth at the meet with the score, which passed the 410 NCAA requirement.
The Jumbos are sixth as a team with Saturday and Sunday action still to come. Columbia, NYU, MIT, Wellesley, SUNY New Paltz, LIU Brooklyn, Wheaton and Keene State are also at the meet.
Tufts also received good efforts from freshmen on Friday. Ailish Dougherty swam a solid early-season time of 18:20.10 in the 1,650 freestyle to finish 13th at the meet. The foursome of Colleen Doolan, Christiana Hug, Maddie Maider and Sydney Nasson put together an 8:04.60 in the 800 freestyle relay for 15th place.
The Jumbos scored 45 points on Friday. Division I Columbia leads the competition at 152.
