CAMBRIDGE - Junior Amanda Gottschalk posted a top 10 effort in the 200 breaststroke as the Tufts University Women's Swimming & Diving team completed its three-day stay at the MIT Invitational on Sunday.
After posting a faster time of 2:25.99 in the preliminaries Sunday morning, Gottschalk was 10th in the 200 breast final with a 2:27.19 touch. She also had the Jumbos' top time in the 200 individual medley later in the day wtih a 2:14.99 in the prelims.
Freshman Colleen Doolan swam a time of 58.99 seconds in the 100 butterfly that put her as the fifth-fastest woman in Tufts history. She was 13th at the competitive MIT race. Classmate Larisa Kokubo posted identical times of 55.21 seconds in both the preliminaries and final of the 100 freestyle. She scored 16th. Freshman Jen Lucius was the top Tufts performer in the 500 freestyle with a 5:26.18 touch in the preliminaries.
The 200 medley relay team of freshman Caroline McCormick, sophomore Anna Kimura, Doolan and junior Sophia Lin combined for a 1:51.99 in Sunday's prelims. Kokubo, sophomore Jess Lee, freshman Alexandra Good and Doolan finished the 400 freestyle relay with 3:46.82. Tufts was top 20 in both of Sunday's relay finals.
Sophomore Kelsey Gallagher also had a 2:13.94 time for 21st in the 200 backstroke on Sunday.
The Jumbos compiled a 181 score to finish ninth at the meet. Division I Columbia was in first place with 1,292 points.
