SPRINGFIELD - Tufts University sophomore Matt Rohrer continued his fantastic 2015 season by winning the three-meter title at the NCAA Regional Diving Championships Friday night at Springfield College.
On 11 dives, Rohrer compiled a score of 585.20 to defeat a field of 20 others from New England and the Northeast. He edged host Springfield College's Jack Lewis (579.05) by a little more than six points.
By virtue of winning the regional three-meter title, Rohrer automatically qualifies for the 2015 NCAA Championships in Texas March 18-21.
Last weekend, Rohrer was Diver of the Meet at the NESCAC Championships, winning the one-meter title and finishing second in the three-meter event.
At the Zone Regionals last season, hosted by RPI, Rohrer placed third in three-meter (546.95) and fifth in one-meter (507.30). Those finishes earned him a spot in the NCAA field.
Rohrer was 10th off both boards at the 2014 NCAA meet in Indianapolis,. He was also the NESCAC three-meter champion last March.
He will look to double at this year's Regionals in the one-meter competition taking lace on Saturday starting at noon.
