WILLIAMSTOWN - The Tufts Golf team finished in 13th place at the 2015 Williams College Fall Invitational held at the par-71 Taconic Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. The event was the 2015-16 season opener for first-year head coach George Pendergast's Jumbos.
Tufts compiled a two-day total of 632 strokes. They were two in front of 14th place St. Lawrence (634) and two back of 12th place Middlebury (630). Trinity College won the tournament with 601 two-day score.
Junior Owen Elliott tied for seventh individually for Tufts with a 74-76-150 score, eight over par. He led the Jumbos on both days.
Tufts was tied for ninth after Saturday's play when all four scorers shot under 80. However, only Elliott was under 80 on Sunday as Tufts finished with a 323 best-four score for the day.
Sophomore Aaron Corn scored second for Tufts overall with a 77-81-158. Senior co-captain Jay Wong's 80 on Sunday was the team's second-best and he finished at a 162 total. Senior co-captain Brendan Koh shot rounds of 79 and 86 for a 165 final. Sophomore Shane Visram had a 79 in Saturday's round.
Trinity College (301-300-601) began the day three shots back, but ended victorious. Bantam Will Rosenfield (73-70-143), who took home individual medalist honors, anchored the Bantams with a superb final round of one-under par.
Tufts will travel to Vermont next weekend to play at Middlebury College's annual Duke Nelson Invitational.
