MIDDLEBURY, VT - Junior Owen Elliott shot four-over par 75 and is tied for third individually, leading the Tufts Golf team on the first day of the 32nd Annual Duke Nelson Invitational Saturday. The Jumbos are tied for ninth out of 25 teams heading into Sunday.
Tufts sits just four strokes out of fourth place with their Saturday score of 319. NESCAC foe Trinity College is fourth at 315 strokes. NESCAC's Williams College leads the tournament at 305.
Sophomore Aaron Corn backed up Elliott's 75 with a solid 78 on Saturday, tied for 15th in the 124-man field. Also scoring for Tufts was sophomore Glenn VanWinkle with an 80 and senior co-captain Jay Wong at 86.
Jacob Watt-Moris of the leading Williams College teams is atop the individual scoreboard after shooting two-under 69 on Saturday.
Play at the par 71 Ralph Myhre Golf Couse continues on Sunday at 9 am.
