CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Tufts University men's swimming & diving team currently sits in second overall out of five teams after first-day action at the MIT Invitational in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as the Jumbos totaled 176 team points on Friday.

The Jumbos' point total trails first-place New York University by only two points, while it clears third-place MIT by seven points.
Junior Zachary Wallace set the Jumbos' program record in the 200-yard freestyle, during the 800-yard freestyle relay, as he operated out of the leadoff position for the squad's "A" team. Wallace, along with junior James McElduff, junior Lorenzo Lau and sophomore Kingsley Bowen finished fourth overall in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:53.42, while earning 38 team points.
The Jumbos' "B" team, featuring junior Neil Spazzarini, sophomore Noah Cagley, sophomore Ross Wood and junior Scott Simpson finished eighth overall in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:06.80, as the group totaled 32 team points.
Senior Matt Rohrer collected a second-place finish in the 3-meter diving event with an impressive mark of 310.95, while freshman Eli Rosmarin posted a mark of 146.05. Rohrer earned 21 points in the event, while Rosmarin's performance was good for 15.
Sophomore Brandon Jinn was the fourth-place finisher in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:43.62, as the Winchendon, Massachusetts, native added 19 points to the Jumbos' total. Sophomore Adon Shapiro posted a time of 17:04.25 and earned a sixth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. The Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, native's performance was rewarded with 17 team points.
Junior Craig Drennan (17:34.21), freshman Michael Brunelli (17:59.51) and freshman Jose Avila (18:04.18) competed in the 1650-yard freestyle, as the trio of athletes combined for 34 team points.
The Jumbos will compete in the second day of the MIT Invitational Saturday, and then the squad will participate in final-day action on Sunday in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
