GREENSBORO, NC - Competing in the 200 individual medley on the first day of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Wednesday, Tufts junior Amanda Gottschalk recorded a 2:08.55 time.
The action was the first for the Jumbos at the NCAA meet this week. It was also the first time competing at NCAA's for Gottschalk, who placed 40th out of 53 swimmers in the event.
Gottschalk qualified for NCAA's in both the 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley. Because swimmers are allowed to compete in as many as three events at NCAA's, she also entered the 200 IM. In terms of her expertise, it's the least of the three events she will swim this week. She was ranked 42nd in the 200 IM with a 2:07.54 mark entering Nationals.
On Thursday, Gottschalk will swim in the 400 IM and freshman teammate Colleen Doolan will be in the 100 butterfly.
The Jumbos did not score any team points today.
