WARWICK, RI - The Tufts golf team tied for 12th place at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational on Friday. The event was the Jumbos' return to action in the spring.
Saturday's second-round play was canceled due to rain. Friday's results stand as final.
Tufts' four-best scores after 18 holes of play totaled to 337 strokes, tying for 12th with Roger Williams. The two teams were three strokes ahead of 14th-place St. Joseph's College of Maine (340) and 10 behind 11th place Elms College (327). A total of 16 teams were entered.
The Jumbos were led by sophomore Aaron Corn. He went out in 37 and finished with a seven-over par 79. That tied for 17th individually. Senior Brendan Koh shot 80, including a 37 coming in. He tied for 22nd. Corn made 12 pars on the day, tied for second-most in the field. His +1 on par-four holes was among the best, while he and Koh both played even on the four par-five holes.
Sophomore Michael Lefkowitz and freshman Justin Feldman both finished at 89 to score for Tufts.
Host Rhode Island College won the tournament by two strokes with a 315 score compared to 317 for Worcester State. Mike Jezierski from Worcester State was the individual medalist after 18 holes with a +3 75.
