Golf Tied for 15th After 1 Day at UMass Dartmouth's Hampton Inn Invitational

Aaron Corn leads Tufts through one round of play

NORTH DARTMOUTH - The Tufts golf team is tied for 15th place after one round of play at the 2016 Hampton Inn Invitational at Allendale Country Club on Friday.

Tufts' four-best scores totaled to 349 strokes. The Jumbos are tied with Springfield College at 349. Both teams are four strokes back of 14th-place Worcester State (345) and five behind 13th-place Wentworth (344). The Jumbos and the Pride are 12 ahead of 17th place Roger Williams (361).

On the par 72 Allendale course, Aaron Corn led Tufts with an 85 and Brendan Koh scored an 86. Jay Wong scored third for Tufts at 88 and Justin Feldman shot a 90.

Nichols College is the day one leader with a 321 team score. They are three strokes in front of second-place Johnson & Wales (324). Nichols' Colin Whitney is the individual leader after one round following a +2 74 on Friday. Endicott's Austin Teal is second with a 76 score (+4).

The teams will play a second round on Saturday starting at 1 pm.
