Golfers Finish 14th at UMass-Dartmouth Hampton Inn Tournament

Jay Wong scored on both days for Tufts

NORTH DARTMOUTH - The Tufts golf team moved up a spot on the second day of the Hampton Inn Collegiate Invite on Saturday, finishing 14th out of 18 teams at the two-day tournament.

Brendan Koh shot five-over par 77 to lead the Jumbos to a 331 score on Saturday, 18 strokes better than their Friday performance. Tufts' two-day 680 total was three strokes behind host UMass Dartmouth (677), who finished 13th. Tufts had been tied for 15th place in the team standings after Friday's round.

Aaron Corn, who led Tufts with an 85 on Friday, shot 81 today. Jay Wong at 85 and Justin Feldman with an 88 joined Koh and Corn as the Tufts scorers on Saturday.

Koh was the top finsiher at the tournament for Tufts with a two-day 163, which tied for 19th place. Corn tied for 34th with his 166 tournament total.

Husson University, which was third after Friday three strokes back, surged to win the tournament on Saturday with a total of 642 strokes. Salem State and Endicott tied for second place with 645 team scores. Colin Whitney from Nichols College was the individual medalist with a +4 148 (74-74).

The Jumbos compete at Johnson & Wales' Spring Invitational next weekend (Apr. 16-17).
