Taylor Nordan earned top spot in the overall ranking with a one-under 71 |
NEWINGTON, Conn – On day one of the Detrick Invitational at Indian Hill Golf Club, junior Taylor Nordan of the Tufts Golf team shot a 71 to place first place in the overall rankings.
Tufts University Men's Golf placed seventh for day one of the tournament. The Jumbos submitted a score of 313 to round up the team with Nordan and Owen Elliott placing in the top 20.
Elliott tied for fourth with a score of 74 for a two-over. Nordan positioned first with a one-under.
Most impressive was Nordan's back nine of 30, recording six birdies in the process. That's the lowest nine-hole score by any Tufts golfer in program history. Freshman Brandon Karr shot an 82 to tie for 37th. Aaron Corn and Sanjay Mukherjee shot 86 to tie for 48th place while Brian Creonte shot 92, tied for 62nd, to finish out the team rounds.
Host Trinity College combined for a total score of 372 to gain first place as a team overall. The secondary squad for Trinity rounds out second place with a score of 383. The event held 10 teams in the field.
Tee times for day two of the Detrick Invitational begin at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday.
