MIDDLEBURY, Vt.- Tufts Men's Golf earned 13th place on Day 2 at the 33rd Duke Nelson Invitational which included freshman Brandon Karr putting together a team-low five-over 76.
The Jumbos recorded a final round of 318 which featured two scores in the 70's. Tufts concluded play with a total score of 626 (308-318).
Junior co-captain Taylor Nordan led the team with a 10th place finish shooting 73-77 for the two days. With a good two-day tournament, Karr carded two 70s rounds with a 78-76 to jump into 26nd place on the final day of play. Karr finished Day 2 on the last hole of regulation with a hole in one.
Senior co-captain Owen Elliott posted a 75 for Day 1 but was eight shots more on Day 2 to card an 83 and register a total score of 158. Aaron Corn and Ethan Sorkin rounded out the team shooting 82 and 83 in the final round.
Skidmore took home the title at the 33rd Annual Duke Nelson Tournament hosted by Middlebury College. The Thoroughbreds shot an impressive 292 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 588. The host school placed second with a 591 (297-294), followed by Trinity (606) and Rochester (608).
Skidmore's Mackenzie Nelson took home medalist honors, finishing with a one-under par two-day total of 141 (70-71). Middlebury's Philippe Morin was next with a 143 (71-72), while Panther Reid Buzby tied for third with a 144 (74-70).
The Jumbos return to play next weekend on Saturday and Sunday at the Williams Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club for a 1 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday tee times.
