MEDFORD, Mass. – Senior captain Amanda Gottschalk of the Tufts University women's swimming & diving team was not intimidated in competing against Division I-level swimmers, as she collected a trio of first-place finishes during a 237.5-119.5 loss to Boston College on Tuesday evening at Hamilton Pool in Medford, Massachusetts.

Gottschalk, who was an honorable mention All-American in the 200-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Championships last season, earned first-place honors in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.88, nine points), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.18, nine points) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.49, nine points).
Sophomore Colleen Doolan, who garnered honorable mention All-American recognition in the 200-yard butterfly during her rookie season at the NCAA Championships , was the first swimmer to touch the wall in the 200 butterfly (2:09.43), earning nine points for the Jumbos. Doolan was the squad's top-finisher in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.21), while finishing fifth overall in the event.
Senior captain Sophia Lin finished first overall in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.22, as she earned nine points. The Beijing, China, native also posted a time of 28.19 in the 50-yard butterfly.
The Jumbos showcased their depth, as they were able to grab a pair of second-place finishes in relay events. Freshman Grace Goetcheus, Gottschalk, junior Jess Lee and Lin competed together in the 200-yard medley relay, as the "A" unit earned a runner-up finish with a time of 1:51.17. The squad earned four team points, while only trailing the first-place relay team by 0.20 seconds.
Lee, sophomore Alexandra Good, freshman Hannah Truslow and Lin nearly claimed first-place honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the "B" unit compiled a time of 1:42.50 (four points), trailing first place by only 0.70 seconds.

Goetcheus also claimed a pair of third-place nods on the individual side in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.64, three points) and the 50-yard freestyle (25.63, three points), as the freshman star was the team's top-performer in both events. The Kensington, Maryland, native also was the team's first-place finisher in the 100-yard individual medley, as she finished fourth overall (two points) with a time of 1:03.19.
Freshman Olivia Leoni tallied a second-place mark in the 200-yard freestyle, as she clocked a time of 1:59.20 (four points) and was the Jumbos' top-performer in the event. The Denver, Colorado, native also earned fourth-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (55.51, two points) and the 50 freestyle (25.65, two points).
Junior Anna Kimura finished with a trio of top-three finishes on the individual side, as she finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.71, four points), and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.20, three points) and the 200 IM (2:17.63, three points).
Truslow was the Jumbos' top-finisher and placed second overall in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.37, four points), while senior captain Sarah Elghor was the squad's top-finisher and garnered runner-up honors in the 50-yard breaststroke (32.02, four points). Lee was the first Jumbo to touch the wall in the 50-yard butterfly, as she finished third overall (three points), clocking a time of 27.34.
Junior Alli Dorneo (fourth overall, 29.32) and sophomore Sydney Nasson (third overall, 5:28.36) were the Jumbos' top-finishers in the 50-yard backstroke and the 500-yard freestyle, respectively, while freshman Katherine Brown placed third overall in the 50 breaststroke (32.57) and sophomore Ailish Dougherty finished fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:29.07).
The Jumbos will compete in a dual meet at Wheaton in Norton, Massachusetts, on Saturday at 11 a.m.
