MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team competed in Day 1 action at the Middlebury Invitational on Friday, as the Jumbos compiled three top-nine finishes during the 50-yard freestyle in Middlebury, Vermont.

Sophomore Jessica Fan grabbed fourth-place recognition in the 50 freestyle (25.74) and was the Jumbos' top-finisher in the event, while junior Caitlyn Leo (26.28) and junior Zoe Gregorace (26.44) finished eighth and ninth overall, respectively, in the event.
Freshman Stephanie Pon, junior Lindsay Partin, sophomore Maddie Maider and freshman Mackenzie Parmenter earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as the "A" squad posted a time of 4:12.81. Fan, freshman Claudia Gibson, Parmenter and Leo formed the squad's "A" unit in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the girls earned a seventh-place nod with a time of 1:44.59.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Partin was the squad's first-place finisher with a time of 2:15.15, as the Hyannis, Massachusetts, native placed 16th overall out of 34 swimmers. Maider and Pon posted times of 2:17.04 and 2:21.09, respectively, in the 200 IM.
Other strong performers in the 50 freestyle included Parmenter (26.60), Gibson (26.69), junior Eleanor Rimmerman (27.41), freshman Nicole Carzo (28.05) and freshman Sabrina Gornisiewicz (28.11).
Most of the Jumbos' top-finishers this season were spectators at this meet, as the squad is looking to perform at an optimal level at the NESCAC Championships on Feb. 10-12 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
The Jumbos, who achieved their goal of a winning dual-meet record (4-3) this season, will compete in final-day action at the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday in Middlebury, Vermont.
