MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team totaled 11 top-five finishes during the two-day Middlebury Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Middlebury, Vermont.

A handful of those top-five nods occurred during team-oriented relay events on Saturday, as freshman Grace Goetcheus, junior Lindsay Partin, freshman Claudia Gibson and junior Jess Lee formed the Jumbos' "A" team in the 200-yard medley relay, placing fourth overall with a time of 1:53.92.
Sophomore Alexandra Good, sophomore Maddie Maider, senior captain Amanda Gottschalk and sophomore Colleen Doolan grabbed a fourth-place finish with a time of 8:13.35 during the 800-yard freestyle relay, while senior captain Sophia Lin, freshman Brooke Bernstein, freshman Hannah Truslow and Doolan also collected fourth-place honors, clocking a time of 3:45.34 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Jumbos' "B" squad garnered fifth-place accolades during the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 8:14.67, as the team featured freshman Mackenzie Parmenter, junior Caitlyn Leo, junior Zoe Gregorace and sophomore Christiana Hug.
Gregorace, Maider, Leo and Parmenter touched the wall in a time of 3:47.04 in the 400 freestyle relay, as the "B" unit finished fifth overall.
Freshman Rica Generoso finished fourth overall out of 13 swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.38), while sophomore Jessica Fan tallied a fourth-place finish out of 20 swimmers during the 50-yard freestyle (25.74), as the two swimmers were the Jumbos' top-finisher in their respective events.
Partin finished second overall and was the team's first-place finisher in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.13), while junior Meghan Casey was the third swimmer to touch the wall in the event (2:36.40).
Lin clocked a time of 55.02 and led the team in the 100-yard freestyle, as the Beijing, China, native finished seventh overall out of 41 swimmers in the event. Maider earned seventh-place recognition out of 43 competitors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.20) and Partin finished ninth overall out of 24 in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.94), as both individuals were the first Jumbo to touch the wall in their respective events. Partin additionally was the Jumbos' first-place performer in the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.15).
Freshman Nicole Carzo rose to the occasion again during second-day action, as she finished 15th overall out of 31 individuals and was team's top-finisher in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.84). The Andover, Massachusetts, native was also the squad's top-performer in the 200-yard butterfly (2:18.98).
Freshman Stephanie Pon showcased her talent on Saturday, posting a time of 2:18.11 in the 200-yard backstroke, en route to being the squad's top-finisher in the event, while Truslow was the team's first-place performer in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.81), finishing seventh overall out of 35.
The Jumbos' compiled five top-15 finishes in the 100 freestyle, including performances by Goetcheus (10th overall, 55.62), Maider (12th, 55.80), Fan (13th, 56.06) and Generoso (15th, 56.34), while Gregorace tallied a 13th-place nod in the 500 freestyle (5:21.88). Parmenter earned ninth-place recognition in the 200 freestyle (2:00.33), while Goetcheus (1:10.09) and Casey (1:11.62) placed 10th and 15th overall, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke.
In the 50 freestyle on Friday, Leo registered an eighth-place performance (26.28), while Gregorace (26.44) and Parmenter (26.60) placed ninth and 11th overall, respectively.
Next on the agenda for the Jumbos will be the NESCAC Championships on Feb. 10-12 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
