MEDFORD, Mass. - The Tufts University women's swimming and diving team are in third place after the second day of competition at the MIT Invitational. They finished the day with a team score of 600, while MIT is out in front with a 745.5.
There were nine event finals in today's portion of the competition.
A Jumbo team of Grace Goetcheus, Abby Claus, Jess Lee, and Colleen Doolan took fifth place with a 1:39.11. Doolan was the top Tufts finisher in the 200 butterfly with a 2:09.45. Goetcheus finished in fifth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:39.01.
Sook-hee Evans was the top finisher for the Jumbos with a 1:56.64.
In the 100 backstroke Lily Kurtz and Anna Kimura finished in third and fourth respectively with a 1:05.86 and 1:06.18.
Jackie Crater took second place in the 100 backstroke with a 57.72.
A team of Crater, Kurtz, Doolan, and Claus came in third place 400 medley relay with a 3:56.18.
Amber Chong competed in the lone diving finals of the day in the one-meter dive. She was the Jumbos top finisher with a score of 253.20.
The competition continues tomorrow with preliminary rounds starting at 10 a.m.
