Freshman Theodore Shoots 77 to Lead Tufts Golf on First Day at Trinity

Senior Aaron Corn's 79 was second for Tufts on Saturday

NEWINGTON, Conn. - Freshman Harry Theodore shot a five-over par 77 to lead the Tufts University golf team on the first day of the Trinity Invitational held at the Indian Hill Country Club on Saturday. The tournament, which is the season-opener for the Jumbos, continues with second-round play on Sunday.

Theodore's 77 led five Jumbo scorers who totaled 401 strokes on Saturday. Tufts was seventh out of 11 teams after one round of play. They were two behind sixth-place Amherst (399) and three back from fifth-place Babson (398). Host Trinity, which has three teams in the tournament field, earned the top two spots. Their first-place squad had a 383 one-day total.

Following Theodore's 77 which is tied for 11th individually after one round, Tufts senior Aaron Corn scored a seven-over par 79 on Saturday. That is tied for 17th among 63 players in the Trinity Invitational field. Also scoring for Tufts on Saturday was sophomore Brandon Karr, whose 80 was tied for 22nd. Junior Justin Feldman shot 81 and freshman Knox Coulter scored fifth for Tufts with an 84.

Trinity's Alex Ensign and Western New England's John Abbott were tied for first individually after one day with one-over 73 scores.
