MEDFORD, Mass. – The Tufts University women's swimming and diving team competed in the second and final day of the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday.
The event had no team scoring so no school technically won, but the Jumbos did secure 10 top-three finishes, eight coming today and two yesterday. Williams and Middlebury were also in attendance.
Tara Zhou grabbed first place in the 100 backstroke (1:00.96) with Kelsey Gallagher came in second (1:01.12). Gallagher also took second place in the 200 medley relay (1:51.22) with a team of herself, Lindsay Partin, Madeline Lee, and Brooke Bernstein as well as third in the 200 backstroke (2:12.85).
As well as the aforementioned relay, Partin also grabbed two other second place finishes. The first came in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.14) and the second was in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.17).
Abby Claus claimed two third place finishes on the day, first in the 800 freestyle relay along with Mackenzie Parmenter, Jackie Crater, and Colleen Doolan (8:04.66) and then in the 500 freestyle (5:13.40).
Tessa Garces claimed second place in the 200 butterfly (2:10.33).
The Jumbos now have a couple of weeks to prepare for the NESCAC Championships, which begin on Feb. 23.
