Golf 3rd After 1st Day at Trinity's Detrick Invitational

Justin Feldman came in at two-over par 74

MEDFORD - The Tufts University golf team sits third out of 10 teams after one round at the Detrick Invitational hosted by Trinity College on Saturday. Play is being held at Indian Hill Country Club in Newington, Connecticut, where par is 72.

All four Jumbo scorers shot 76 or better on the opening day of the season. Tufts' four-man 301 total is just one stroke behind second-place Babson (300) and 12 behind host and leader Trinity College (289). Amherst College is fourth at 304 strokes.

Senior Justin Feldman led Tufts with a two-over 74 on Saturday, which is tied for sixth individually. Junior Brandon Karr scored second for the Jumbos and is tied for ninth overall with a three-over 75. Freshman Mac Bredahl and junior Ethan Sorkin both shot four-over 76s to round out the scoring for the Jumbos. All four Tufts scorers placed among the top 15 individuals out of 63 players overall.

Sophomores Henry Hughes and Harry Theodore were also part of the Tufts line-up, shooting 77 (+5) and 83 respectively.

Trinity's Will Rosenfield shot a two-under 70 to lead the tournament after 18 holes.

The second round of the tournaent starts tomorrow at 11 am.
