MEDFORD – The Jumbo women's swimming and diving team fell 237.5-138.5 against Boston College on Sunday afternoon on Seniors Day at Hamilton Pool. Tufts celebrated seniors Colleen Doolan, Ailish Dougherty, Jess Fan, Tessa Garces, Alex Good, Christie Hug, Madeline Lee, Caroline McCormick, and Sydney Nasson this afternoon.
Tufts sophomore Sook-Hee Evans led the Jumbos with first-place finishes in the 1,000 yard freestyle clocking a time of 10:45.85 and in the 500 freestyle (5:15.87).
Doolan had a good final home meet as she placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:10.55) and second in the 100 butterfly (59.32). Sophomore Lily Kurtz turned in a first-place mark in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.02), and two second-place finishes as part of the 200 medley relay (1:48.06) and individually in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.62). First-year Mary Hufziger also won in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:56.58 timme that is a new Hamilton Pool record.
The brown and blue got their first second-place mark from the 200 medley relay (1:48.06) unit of first-years Jeanette Khowong and Hannah Spencer, sophomore Sasha Fong and Kurtz. Other Tufts second-place finishers included Fong in the 50 yard butterfly (26.26), Hufziger in the 100 freestyle (54.09), sophomores Abby Claus in the 200 backstroke (2:11.18) and Emma Seymour in the 1,000 freestyle (11:08.70) and junior Kate Brown in the 50 breaststroke (32.13).
The Jumbos rounded out the day in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.13) where they finished second led by Fong, Hufziger, Doolan, and Spencer.
Tufts will next be in action on Friday when they travel to MIT at 6 pm. Boston College competes again on Saturday when they travel to Boston University at 1:30 pm.
