CAMBRIDGE – The #17 ranked Tufts women's squash team dominated the lower two-thirds of the order to score a 7-2 victory over 21st-ranked Mount Holyoke College in a match played at Harvard University on Sunday.
Jumbo sophomore Natalie Bartlett lost just two points in her #7 match (11-1, 11-1, 11-0) as Tufts was undefeated from the third through ninth spots. Junior Rachel Windreich gave up just five points to her opponent in the sixth match and both sophomore Diya Sanghi at #5 and junior Radhika Joshi in the eighth spot surrendered six points each to the Lyons.
Senior tri-captain Catherine Shanahan had the most competitive victory for Tufts. She took the third match 11-8, 11-6, 11-4 over Mount Holyoke's Maeve Watts-Roy.
The two Lyon victories came in the top two spots. Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige won a close three-game #1 match against Jumbo senior co-captain Claire Davidson 11-5, 11-9, 11-8. The #2 match went to four games as Tufts' freshman Isa Schneider evened the match before falling to Nadindhi Udangawa 13-11, 7-11, 11-7, 12-10.
Tufts, who improved to 2-0 with the victory, played host Harvard following the completion of this match. The Lyons (0-1) were playing in their season-opener.
