| Amber Chong was fifth among NESCAC divers at today's event |
MEDFORD – Tufts University sophomore diver Amber Chong placed 13th in the one-meter event at the 2019 NCAA Division III Region 3 Diving Championships hosted by MIT on Friday.
Amongst a field of 22 divers, Chong compiled a score of 376.15 over 11 dives. She needed to place among the top nine to earn a spot in the NCAA Division III Championships coming up March 20-23 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Deborah Wen from MIT won the one-meter regional championship today with a 483.90 score.
This is the second straight year Chong has qualified for the Diving Regional. She improved upon her 20th-place finish and score (365.65) in one-meter from a year ago.
Chong will have another chance to qualify for NCAA's when she competes in the three-meter event at the Regional tomorrow beginning at noon.
