Karr's 73 Leads Golf on First Day of Williams Invitational

Brandon Karr shot two-over 73 to lead Tufts on Saturday.

WILLIAMSTOWN – Senior co-captain Brandon Karr shot two-over 73 to lead the Tufts University golf team on the first day at the Williams Fall Invitational Saturday.

Playing at the par-71 Taconic Golf Club, Tufts' four-best scores added up to 309 strokes today. They were one behind 10th-place Western New England (308) and four behind ninth-place Skidmore (305). The 25-team tournament resulted in a six-hour round for the Jumbos.

Karr had three birdies on his way to tying for 11th individually on Saturday. Sophomore Mac Bredahl also had three birdies and finished at 79. Junior Harry Theodore was second for Tufts at 78 and junior Henry Hughes also scored with a 79. The fifth Jumbo golfer was sophomore Travis Clauson who carded an 83.

New York University leads the tournament after one round with a 291 team score. Host Williams is second at 294. Hamilton's Jack Habeeb leads the individuals after a two-under 69 today.

Play continues tomorrow at 9 am.
