Chong 8th, Kosko 9th at NCAA One-Meter Regional Diving Competition

Amber Chong is competing at her third NCAA Regional diving meet.

SPRINGFIELD – Junior Amber Chong and freshman Alaina Kosko both finished in the top 10 in the one-meter event at the 2020 NCAA Division III Region 3 (Northeast) Diving Championships at Springfield College on Friday.

Chong was eighth with a 413.20 score and Kosko placed ninth with a 412.95 score. Tufts freshman Sydney Ho was also in action and scored 368.15 points for 18th place.

A forward 2 ½ somersault pike was Chong's and Kosko's best dive of Friday's competition, as both scored 50.70 points with it. Chong's second to last dive – a reverse 1 ½ somersault pike – also earned her 45.60 points. Kosko did an inward 1 ½ somersault pike for a 49.20 score on her ninth dive.

Ho's best effort was a back 1 ½ somersault pike for 44.85 points on her eighth dive.

Chong's and Kosko's finishes are close to what was need in order to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina March 18-21. GoTuftsJumbos.com will update this status as soon as it's known.

Amherst's Lindsey Ruderman won the one-meter Regional title today with a 482.90 score.

The three Jumbos will compete in the three-meter contest at Regionals on Saturday starting at noon.
