BOSTON, Mass. – The Tufts University men's swimming & diving team traveled to Boston University for their final event before the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships.
MIT joins Tufts as other Division III programs while they are also competing against Division I schools, Boston College Boston University, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Fairfield University, and Iona College.
Sophomore Paul Schwartz finished fifth in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:52.38. Senior Greg Callahan completed the event in 11th with a time of 5:05.89.
In the 200 Yard IM, juniors Christian Schoen and Connor Doyle finished 12th and 13th. They completed the event with times of 2:03.10 and 2:05.66.
Junior Noah Zhang, senior Tim Gronet, and freshman Otto Laasko finished the 50 Yard Freestyle in 10th, 11th, and 14th. All three Jumbo swimmers finished within one second of the top time. Zhang completed the event in 21.86 with Gronet right on his heels at 21.90. Laasko finished at 22.50.
Lassko, Gronet, Zhang, and freshman Zac Spalding earned the win in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:12.00.
Freshman Zach Lawrence was the top Jumbo diver in the 3 meter dive with a score of 341.77. Classmates Kai Renshaw and Matt Langley were third and fourth at 266.77 and 228.97.
The Jumbos return to action on the second day of the Boston Winter Open. The sessions start at 1:30pm and 7pm.
