Davidson Earns Consolation Match Victory at CSA Individual Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Senior co-captain Claire Davidson became the first member of the Tufts University women's squash team to win a match at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships since 2009 on Friday.

Davidson won a consolation bracket quarterfinal match against Eloise Nimoityn from Dickinson College 12-10, 11-8, 11-4 on Friday afternoon. It's the first Tufts victory at the tournament since Victora Barba and Stefanie Marx both had wins at the 2009 competition.

Davidson, who is in the Holleran Cup (B division) East bracket at the event, will now play Virginia's Giovanna DeAlmeida in the consolation semifinals on Saturday at 11:55 am. The match is scheduled to be webcast at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sftmPZBuRyE&feature=youtu.be.

In the round of 16 to start her day, Davidson had lost 11-8, 11-3, 11-5 to Ashley Manning from host Penn.

Davidson is competing at the CSA Individual Championships for the third year in a row.
