PHILADELPHIA – Tufts University senior co-captain Claire Davidson will play in the consolation finals for her bracket at the 2020 College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships on Sunday.
Playing in the Holleran Cup (B division) East bracket, Davidson on Saturday came from behind to win her consolation semifinal versus the University of Virginia's Giovanna DeAlmeida. Trailing 2-1, Davidson rallied for a 5-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 11-5 victory.
Davidson will play Stanford's Amita Gondi in the consolation final on Sunday at 9:30 am. The match will be webcast at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0579kSUJ5o&feature=youtu.be.
On Friday Davidson had started the weekend with a three-set loss to Ashley Manning from host Penn in the round of 16. However, later on Friday she would become the first Tufts player since 2009 to win a match at the CSA Individual tournament in the consolation quarterfinals. Davidson topped Eloise Nimoityn of Dickinson College 12-10, 11-8, 11-4 to set up today's match against DeAlmeida.
Davidson is playing in the third CSA Individual Championships of her career.
