Davidson Finishes Career with Strong Performance in Holleran Cup Consolation Final

PHILADELPHIA - Senior co-captain Claire Davidson of the Tufts University women's squash team lost the Halloran Cup (B division) East consolation final in five games on the last day of the College Squash Association (CSA) Championships Sunday at the University of Pennsylvania.

Davidson built a 2-0 lead in the match against Stanford's Amita Gondi, but Gondi came back for an 8-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8 win to take the Holleran Cup East consolation championship.

The performance by Davidson over the weekend is one of the strongest by a Tufts player at the event. She became the first Jumbo since 2009 to win at the CSA Individual Championships on Friday, then finished with a 2-2 record overall.

After losing her round-of-16 opener on Friday, Davidson won back-to-back consolation matches. That included coming from behind for a 5-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 11-5 win over Virginia's Giovanna DeAlmeida in the consolation semifinals on Saturday.

Davidson concluded her Tufts Squash career with this weekend's strong effort. The three-time NESCAC All-Conference player also competed at three CSA Individual Championships events as a Jumbo.
