CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team won the three-day MIT Winter Invitational which finished up on Sunday.
Out of seven teams, the Jumbos were first with a 1,753 score. The host Engineers took second with 1,634 points and Wheaton College was third (730).
The Jumbos won the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:27.16 time on Sunday night to close out their victory. The foursome of Jillian Cudney, Katelin Isakoff, Claire Brennan (pictured) and Mary Hufziger finished 2.67 seconds in front of second-place MIT (3:29.83).
Brennan had won the 500 freestyle earlier in the meet with a 4:57.52 mark, with Isakoff second (4:58.12). The Jumbos later took the top six spots in the 100 freestyle led by Cudney's 51.30 and another runner-up finish by Isakoff at 52.17 seconds.
Tufts newcomers Mary Laurita, a graduate student who last competed at Bowdoin College, and freshman Abby Miller were second in the 100 butterfly and the 200 breaststroke, respectively. Laurita's time was 56.11 and Miller's was 2:24.08. Laurita had a 55.82 in the 100 fly prelims.
Senior Abby Claus posted a pair of thirds on Sunday, in the 200 backstroke with a 2:03.85 time and in the 200 individual medley where she touched in 2:07.53. In the 200 back prelims she had a 2:03.27 mark.
The Jumbos had led off Sunday night's finals with a 1:44.12 in the 200 medley relay for third place. The Tufts foursome was Anne Younger, Elle Morse, Laurita and Cudney.
Tufts swims in a tri-meet at Wesleyan University with Williams College next Saturday.
