BERLIN, Conn. - The Tufts University golf team played its first match since October 2019 today and scored a 10-stroke victory over Wesleyan University in dual competition.
The round was played at the par-72 Timberlin Golf Club. The Jumbos' four-best scores totaled 314 strokes, while the Wesleyan team came in at 324.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Jack Meehan shared best-score honors for the Jumbos with a 78. Senior co-captain Alex Honigford also shot 78. Tufts also added a pair of 79's by senior co-captain Harry Theodore and junior Travis Clauson to its final total.
Six golfers played per side. Also competing for Tufts was junior Adam Schwimmer, who shot 81, and sophomore Kemp Bassett with an 82.
For Wesleyan, Jacob Fain carded the lowest score on the day with a 76. Fain was followed by Daniel Kraft who shot an 80 and Owen Cannizzo with an 86.
Rounding out the Cardinal scoring was Eli Epstein-Lubow (86).
The Jumbos are scheduled to host Trinity College and Amherst College at Sandy Burr Country Club on Saturday.
