MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Tufts University golf team sits sixth out of 22 teams after one day of play at the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College.
On Saturday, the Jumbos' four-best scores totaled 308 strokes. They are five behind host Middlebury (303) and one ahead of seventh-place Skidmore (309).
Junior Kemp Bassett leads the Jumbos after Saturday with a four-over par 75. He's tied for 19th individually. Seniors Mac Bredahl and Travis Clauson both shot 76 today, placing them in a tie for 25th. Senior Adam Schwimmer was the fourth Tufts scorer at 81. Sophomore Conor O'Holleran also played and came in at 82.
Babson College leads the tournament with a 293 score. Four schools were under 300 as a team, including NYU (296), Hamilton (297) and Trinity (297). Steven Chen from Amherst College with an even-par 71 is in first place individually.
Play continues at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on Sunday at 9:00 am.
