WILLIAMSTOWN - Senior Mac Bredahl (pictured) shot even-par 71 on Sunday to help the Tufts University golf team move up to a fifth-place finish out of 18 teams at the two-day Williams Fall Invitational.
Tufts was eighth after Saturday's round with a best-four score of 307. They cut five strokes off that with Sunday's 302 team score. The Jumbos' tournament total of 309 edged sixth-place Hamilton College, who had a 310 total. Tufts was five strokes behind fourth-place RPI (604).
Joining Bredahl as Tufts' scorers on Sunday were freshman Jack Meehan with a +5 76, junior Kemp Bassett at 77 (+6) and senior Adam Schwimmer with a seven-over 78.
Bredahl's tournament total of 147 - including Saturday's 76 - was ninth individually. Schwimmer was also top 30 with his 75-78-153 tournament score. A total of 90 golfers finished two rounds at Williams College's Taconic Golf Club.
Babson College played brilliantly on both days, earning a team score of 276 on Sunday for first-place 560 strokes overall. They finished 35 strokes ahead of second-place Trinity College (291-304-595). Skidmore posted a 295 team score on Sunday to take over third place at 302-295-597.
Nicholas Gianelos from Babson fired a five-under 66 on Sunday to finish as medalist with a 137 total.
Tufts plays at the Bowdoin Invitational next weekend.
