CAMBRIDGE - Junior Zach Lawrence won both diving events as the Tufts men's swimming & diving team competed in a dual meet at MIT on Saturday.
Both his 323.18 score in one-meter diving and 334.28 in three-meter diving were the second best totals of Lawrence's career for six dives. Both were also NCAA B cuts for 2022. He defeated MIT's David Benko, who scored 306.36 in one-meter and 317.03 in three.
The Jumbos had two of the top three finishers in the 100 backstroke today, with Nate Tingen recording a 51.83 mark for second place and Eric Lundgren's 51.91 taking third.
Other individual runner-up performances for Tufts came from Peter LaBarge in the 50 freestyle (21.11), Brian Uribe in the 200 backstroke (1:54.78), Evan Szablewski in the 500 freestyle (4:48.11) and Ethan Schreier in the 100 butterfly (50.97).
Tingen and LaBarge were the third and fourth legs, respectively, of the Jumbos' 200 freestyle relay. Alex Gu and Soeren Euvrard led off and the foursome was second in a 1:24.11 time.
Szablewski also had a third in the 1,000 free at 9:59.60, Schreier was third in the 200 fly with a 1:53.28 mark, LaBarge took third in the 100 free (46.85) and Uribe's 1:56.80 was third in the 200 individual medley. Willie Xu (pictured) had Tufts' top marks in the 100 breaststroke (59.08) and the 200 breaststroke (2:10.60).
A strong MIT team ranked sixth in the current College Swimming Coaches Association of America national poll defeated the #13 Jumbos 200-98.
The Jumbos host their Seniors Meet on January 30 against Hamilton.
