CAMBRIDGE, MA (December 4, 2022) - First-year swimmer
Lily Klinginsmith broke the school record while winning the 100 butterfly on Sunday to help the Tufts women's swimming & diving team place second at the MIT Winter Invitational.
Klinginsmith broke the record twice today. Her time of 54.83 seconds in the preliminaries lowered the mark from the previous time of 55.16 held by
Mary Laurita from last season. Klinginsmith then won the 100 fly final in 54.82 tonight, improving her record by a 0.01 margin.
The Jumbos had five of the top eight finishers in the 100 fly overall, showcasing depth that helped the team place second out of seven teams in the meet. Host MIT won with a 1773.5 score followed by the Jumbos' 1716. RPI was third with a 629 total.
Senior
Katelin Isakoff also won a race for Tufts on Sunday, with her 4:56.18 time winning the 500 freestyle. That NCAA B mark led four Jumbos in the top five, including senior
Claire Brennan who was third in 5:01.73. Isakoff later added a runner-up time of 51.58 seconds in the 100 free.
Klinginsmith also led four Jumbos in the top six of the 200 individual medley later on Sunday. Her 2:04.53 time in the final of that event was an NCAA B mark.
Tufts had started Sunday evening by swimming a B time of 1:44.16 for second place in the 200 medley relay final. The foursome was sophomore

Maddie Hagberg and
Madeleine Dunn both swam NCAA B times in the preliminaries of the 200 backstroke with 2:01.78 and 2:02.06 touches, respectively. Hagberg was third in the final (2:02.39) and Dunn was fourth (2:03.64).
The Jumbos had the second and third foursomes in the 400 freestyle relay which closed the meet. Klinginsmith, first-year
Isa Chambers, Brennan and Isakoff timed 3:26.28 for second place and a B cut. Senior

Jillian Cudney took third with a 3:30.89 finish.Â
Wheeler was the top Jumbo scorer in the 200 breaststroke where her 2:23.73 time was fifth on Sunday.
Tufts will be back in the pool next week at Wesleyan for a quad match with Williams and WPI.
