BOSTON – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team returned to Boston University on Saturday for the second day of the Boston Winter Open that began Friday night. The two-day event serves as a shave and taper meet for non-conference swimmers and divers.
Competing with Tufts and Boston University were Bates, Boston College, Brown, Holy Cross, MIT and Northeastern.
The Jumbos had two first-place finishes on day two of the Boston Winter Open, including the team of Anne Younger, Emma Claus (pictured) and Hannah Lesser in the 200-yard medley relay. They finished with a time of 1:48.22. Tory Atkinson also earned a first-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:33.10. Claus finished right behind her in second-place with a time of 4:36.04.
Allison Brea competed in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing in third place with a time of 18:17.05.
In the time trials, Lesser (1:56.78) and Brea (1:57.12) both competed in the 200-yard freestyle. Lesser went on to compete again in the 200-yard individual medley time trial, earning a time of 2:09.83. Atkinson (24.73), Sora Sohn (25.59) and Brea (26.13) competed in the 50-yard freestyle time trial and Claus (1:07.48) competed in the 100-yard breaststroke time trial.
In diving, Alaina Kosko competed in the three-meter diving event, earning a score of 290.75 while Ariana Mehrotra (219.95) and Emma Fishbein (184.30) competed in the one-meter diving event.
The Jumbos are back at it on Thursday, February 10th to compete in the NESCAC Championships which run until Sunday, February 13th.
