Golfers 2nd After One Day of NESCAC Championship

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – The Tufts University golf team is in second place after one round at the 2022 NESCAC Championship being played at the Yahnundasis Golf Course this weekend.

The Jumbos' four-best scores totaled to 308 strokes today, eight back of host Hamilton College (300). Middlebury and Amherst are right behind the Jumbos tied for third with 309 team scores. Ten teams are in the tournament overall.

Tufts was led today by Ben Blase, who shot 73. Also scoring for the Jumbos was Jack Meehan at 75, Travis Clauson with a 77 and Adam Schwimmer at 83. Tufts' fifth golfer was Kemp Bassett, who had an 84 round.

Blase is second individually in the tournament, behind Hamilton's Billy Geach who shot 71 today. Meehan is tied for fourth and Clauson is also in the top 10 tied for eighth.

The second and final round of the tournament tees off on Sunday at 10:00 am.
