MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Tufts University golf team finished 13th out of 24 teams in their first action of the 2022-23 season at Middlebury College's Duke Nelson Invitational this weekend.
Tufts was 15th after Saturday's round, but moved up to 13th overall following their play on Sunday. Today their four-best scores added up to 304, an improvement of 15 strokes from yesterday's team total. They had a final two-day score of 623.
Holden Kittelberger, the freshman from Katy, Texas, shot two-over 73 to lead Tufts today. He had three birdies for the round, including two in the final three holes to finish strong with a 36 on the back nine (even par.) He tied for 22nd individually overall with a two-day 151.
Travis Clauson, playing as a graduate student this season, shot 73 today, recording eight pars in a row on the front nine to score a +1 36. He finished at 152 overall.Â
Junior
Toby Rudolph had a 79 on Sunday to match his score from Saturday and finish with a 158 total. Senior
Kemp Bassett finished with a 78 on the second day (162 total). Sophomore
Eric Lancellotti also played for Tufts and shot 80 today (164 total).
RPI won the team title with a 590 score, and Hamilton College's Ramon Aroca Gonzalez was the individual medalist at a 140 tournament total (71-69).
The Jumbos make their annual trip to the Williams College Invitational next weekend.
