Golfers 6th at Bowdoin After One Round

BRUNSWICK, ME - Graduate student Travis Clauson shot one-over 73 to lead the Tufts University golf team on the first day of the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday. The Jumbos are sixth out of 15 teams after one round.

Played at the par-72 Brunswick Golf Club, Tufts' team score of 313 features Clauson's 73, a 78 by senior Kemp Bassett, an 81 by freshman Holden Kittelberger and an 81 from sophomore Will Garvin. Junior Jack Meehan shot 84.

Clauson's round featured five birdies and an even-par 35 on the back nine. He's in second place overall out of 80 golfers. Bassett is tied for 18th.

Suffolk University's Mauro Stanchieri's even-par 72 leads the tournament. Host Bowdoin College is the top team after one day with a 307 total.

Sunday's round will begin at 9 am.
