SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (October 8, 2023) – Tufts University freshman
Nick McCabe won medalist honors at the Skidmore Fall Invitational with a four-under par 68 at the Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course today.
McCabe was an even-par 36 through nine holes. He then had a birdie three on the 10
th and an eagle three on the 12
th to get his back nine started. He would birdie two of his last four holes to finish at 68, edging RPI's Jacob Lindsay, Trinity's Cooper Yaccino and Hamilton's Ramon Aroca Gonzalez who all shot 69. McCabe topped a field of 117 golfers overall.
Saturday's first day of the tournament had been canceled due to heavy rain, turning it into an 18-hole event played on Sunday.
Tufts tied for seventh out of 21 teams with a 293 best-four score, matching NYU.
Jack Meehan and
Holden Kittelberger both shot two-over 74 for the Jumbos, with each recording three birdies during their rounds.
Toby Rudolph was the fourth Tufts scorer with a five-over 77.
JP Noone at 77 and
Reed Bodley at 79 also played for the Jumbos.
Laval University from Quebec won the team title with an even-par 288 score. They were a stroke ahead of RPI and Trinity College, who were the runner-ups.
