CAMBRIDGE, MA (December 1, 2023) – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team had some of the program's best-ever swims on the first night of the MIT Winter Invitational Friday.
First-year
Sydney Stasz was just 0.05 off the school record in the 100 individual medley tonight. Competing in a time trial, Stasz posted a finish of 58.93 seconds that is now second in program history to
Lily Klinginsmith's 58.88 from last year.
In the 50 breaststroke, sophomore
Quinci Wheeler was just 0.15 off her own school record of 29.07 seconds. She had a time trial mark tonight of 29.22 seconds. Classmate
Madeleine Dunn recorded a 17:02.40 time in the 1650 freestyle tonight that's faster than anyone in school history besides herself. She is the record-holder with a 16:51.90 mark.

Selin Tuncay and sophomore
Isa Chambers combined on a time of 7:38.60 in the 800 freestyle relay that was under the NCAA B mark of 7:39.09.
First-year
Elena Harrison swam a 26.66 mark in the 50 backstroke time trial, which places her sixth for the event in school history.
Sophomore
Jade Foltenyi in the 100 IM time trial (1:01.58), senior
Katie Shelburne in the 1650 free (17:28.78) and junior Cierra McCarthy in the 1650 free (17:34.05) also had strong swims.
There was no team scoring for tonight's events. The meet continues tomorrow beginning at 10 AM and also has a night session starting at 6 PM.
