GREENSBORO, NC (March 17, 2023) - The Tufts University 800 freestyle relay was the national runner-up this evening at the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Jumbos finished with a 7:22.85 time in the race, behind national champion Denison's 7:16.35 finish. The Jumbo foursome was first-year
Lily Klinginsmith, senior
Chloe Deveney, senior
Katelin Isakoff and senior
Claire Brennan. Isakoff and Brennan add the second-place finish to their national championship won as part of Tufts' 800 free relay in 2022.
Sophomore
Lara Wujciak got the day started very well for Tufts in the 200 butterfly. She broke the school record in the preliminaries with a 2:01.71 that was fourth. She improved upon the 2:01.77 by Amy Socha from 2020. Wujciak's All-American performance in the 200 fly final tonight was an eighth-place finish in a 2:03.15 mark.
First-year
Quinci Wheeler broke a nine-year old Jumbo record in the 100 breaststroke - Jenny Hu's 1:04.01 from 2014 - with a 1:03.58 preliminary swim today. Wheeler was then 14th in the final Friday night (1:03.74) for an honorable mention All-American award.
Elle Morse and
Katelin Ulmer had swam in the 100 breast prelims for Tufts with 1:05.50 and 1:05.52 marks, respectively.
Scoring 48 team points today, the Jumbos now have 211.5 total and are in sixth place at the meet.

Maddie Hagberg in the 100 backstroke today and she recorded a 56.77 time in the prelims.
Tomorrow's final day of the NCAA meet has Tufts in the 1650 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke and then the 400 freestyle relay to close the meet.
